Science Diet Cat Food – Specific Dietary Needs

Science Diet is a brand of Hills Pet Nutrition, a subsidiary of Colgate Palmolive, which they purchased in 1976. Mark Morris Sr. was a pioneer in the field of veterinary clinical nutrition. The concept of science diet began in 1939 when a blind friend of Dr Mark Morris Sr. had a guide dog called Buddy that had kidney failure.

Wanting to help him to recover he asked Dr Morris to help. He developed a food being convinced that the problem lay in his diet and developed a diet that he felt would be of specific benefit to his condition and had success thus the concept of science diet pet food was on the road to development.

What the people say

Science diet has a very large range of age and condition specific diets but reviews are certainly mixed. Some reviews are almost entirely negative whilst others are overwhelmingly praiseworthy.

It’s difficult to know what o make of it and who to believe. Generally, consumers give a balanced view but sometimes some of the complaints are baseless and scant on detail and specifics.

Things are said like I gave my cat Science Diet and 2 weeks later they died. Obviously, this does not mean to say that the reason the health of their cat declined was due to the food but the review contributors seem to believe it.

On the other hand, the ones that totally praise it one review after the other are a little suspect also but who can say really what is behind this. Suspicions of reviews arranged by the product maker do come to mind but there is nothing to say that that is the truth behind it either.

science diet cat foodBest thing to do is read them all, you make up your own mind, and some of the criticisms are somewhat bizarre while others seem credible. Some of the praise is a little contrived too so making head and tail of it all is not easy. Read more here.

Ask your cat

They have the range there and there is certainly a lot to consider when choosing the right food for your cat; the rest you have to research further to say one way or the other as to the benefit of Science Diet Cat Food.

The best review is from your cat. If she likes it and does well on it, it is successful.
