Saving Money On Pet Insurance Without Compromising The Coverage
The idea of pet insurance has only recently been adopted by the people. The question of whether or not you require pet insurance is a vital yet simple one to answer. Obviously the question does not arise if you don’t have a pet at all, but in case you do, the need for pet insurance has become important.
What is the need for Pet Insurance?
The main reason to obtain a pet insurance policy is due to the fact that the pet healthcare costs have shot up over the last few years. With the average dog owner spending over $800 per year and the average cat owner spending more than $500 per year on their pet’s medical expenses (as determined by a survey conducted by the American Pet Products Manufacturers Association), it is no wonder that the number of pet insurance applications have risen. Factors such as veterinarian fees as well as diagnostic and treatment costs, will determine the medical expenses incurred by your pet.
Balancing Coverage and Cost
The balance between coverage and cost of policies is a fragile one. While one gains the other one would fall. Therefore to reach the proper balance between coverage and price you must assess your pet’s needs and your financial status accordingly. To save this money you would need to get a good pet insurance policy which covers your entire pet’s medical and well being needs and at the same time offers you the least premium to pay so that you can save money on it. The following tips will help you save money on your pet insurance without compromising on the coverage offered by them:
1. Acquire information of a variety of insurers, which offer pet insurance
The best place to initiate your search for a good insurance company would be to start with your own insurer. Trust is an important factor that you and your insurance provider must have in each other. If you go to your own insurance company, chances are that you will be offered a lower premium and would have to pay less, as they trust you more than some new insurers.
Most well known insurance companies have a separate department, which offers pet insurance. However if your insurance company does not have any pet insurance policies for your pet then search the internet and find out the various pet insurance companies which are giving good pet insurance policies with respect to price and coverage. Major providers online include PetCare Pet, Premier Pet and PetsHealth Care.
Another good idea would be to talk to your vet about the available insurance service providers, as they know a variety of insurers in your region. This is because veterinarians deal with insurers on a regular basis.

Good site to go to is http://www.petinsurancereview.com. They list all of the major companies in the US and Canada. Clients with claim info have listed their exdperiences on the site and each company gets a rating. It’s not super scientific, but you’ll get a good idea of who you should consider or stay away from. As I stated in a previous post, I signed our pup with Trupanion. Thank goodness I haven’t had to make a claim yet, but when I do, I’ll hit the site and rate them.

One thing that one need to be aware of when looking at the site you mention is how many reviews the individual company has received. If they have only one review then can be said to paint the whole picture
