Pet Safe Fence

One of the most important things to consider when you are purchasing a home or dog is how you will contain your pets.

If you already have pets and you want to let them outside you must consider what type of fence is not only best for containing your dog, but also what sort of fence is safest for your pet. There are several types of fences that are good for pets and some that are not.

When you purchase a fence or a house that has an existing fence, you should not focus solely on containment but also on safety. There are tons of pet safe fence options out there; you just have to be willing to look.

Pet Safe Fences

One of the most common types of pet safe fence is a chain link fence. These can be seen in backyards across the country and with good reason. If properly installed, they are safe and effective when it comes to containing dogs.

They can however be dangerous if they become frayed which exposes sharp wire or it they are not sturdy. If you have a dog that jumps against fences, you will want to be extra sure that your fence is sturdy so that it does not collapse when your dog jumps against it.

Another type of pet safe fence is a privacy fence. These wooden slatted fences are sturdy and safe as they have little ways for a dog to hurt themselves on them.

If you have a dog that likes to dig however, you may end up with a dog wedged under your fence because they tried to dig their way out. If this is the problem, you may want to look into another way to contain your dog.

Other Fencing Options

These types of fences are completely dependent on the dog. If you have a large breed dog, they may charge right through the fence without even feeling the shock. If you have a smaller dog that is a bit fool hearty they might also try to run through the fence.

This is the reason that these types of fences are not the safest. You cannot guarantee that your pet will not run through and get shocked any way, which may lead to serious damage.

When you choose a fence, it is important to research it first before assuming that it will be safe for your pet. If you look into all your options and consider the individual traits of the pet that you are containing you should be able to find just the right fence for your animal.

Remember, installation is a big factor in whether a fence is pet safe or not, if not properly installed even the safest fences can be a hazard. Consult a professional if you are not one yourself when you are getting your fence installed.
