Free Answers to Pet Health Questions

When you are a pet owner you will naturally want to do the best you possibly can to keep your pet safe, healthy and vital. You will however always run into things, situations or circumstances where you don’t know what to do or where you have several options and don’t know what will be the best solution for you and your pet.

Especially when you need answers to your pet health questions it is important that you get the best possible advice so that your pet will stay healthy or will recover as quickly as possible if it is already ill or injured. The question remains however: Where do you find highly qualified answers to your questions about pet health?

Well there are actually several different options available to you but each of them has their own advantages as well as disadvantages. Read on to discover both parts so you will be better prepared to make the right decision for your pet.

Now this might seem like an obvious solution but when you are in a situation where your pet becomes ill and there are any other health related issues do your freak out or do you keep your head cool? Asking your pet’s VET has both advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages:
The greatest advantage is that the VET has already examined your pet and already know much about it. Often you’ll get the best answer here because the VET has all the recorded history of past illnesses, x-rays and blood sample results.

Disadvantages:
Unfortunately, getting your VET to answer pet health questions will often be priced per the half or whole hour meaning that you will have to pay to get the answers you are looking for. I most cases you are willing to do that but you might find yourself in a situation where that can be difficult.

Find Online Help
Because of the internet and the billions of webpages that are freely available, you will probably be able to find the answers you are looking for online. Especially if you know how to search and where to look.

 Advantages:
One of the primary advantages about finding answers to pet health questions is that you will not only get the answers for free but you will also get several answers to the same question and with a little work on your part you might even be able to find the same answer as your VET would have given you. Difference is that here you’ll save money (but ad some work on your part).

Disadvantages:
Because every single person with an Internet connection can go online and publish whatever rubbish they want to you will need to be careful not to take answers from a stranger as the only truth there is. You might end up hurting your pet instead of making things better. That is why using the Internet might save you money but you will need to compensate with spending time to do your homework.

Ask Other People with Pets
Now last, but not least you will always be able to find other people that have the same pet as you that have experienced what your pet is experiencing. Especially local pet clubs or online pet forums are great sources of information and help, but as with the online help you can be absolutely sure that the answer you get is a qualified one.

So there you have it. Three options for finding answers to your pet health questions.

My 7 month old chihuahua mix has a spot on her head where shes losing her hair, she does’nt scratch it, it does’nt itch her, it looks dry, can you help me diagnose the problem? Will I have to take her to a vet? Also one more question, she wont walk on a leash she gets irraticle when I put one on her, so unfortunately I cant walk her. Is there anything I can do to leash train her?
    Thank you

@ Jon, I’m sorry for the late reply but I suggest that you go visit your VET once more. If he has already diagnosed the problem it is better for him to proceed the treatment. I do however think you will benefit from explaining the gaging and hacking issue with your VET. If it is something that happens all the time it shouldn’t be a problem showing it to the VET.

@ Theresa, as for the loss of hair you will have two options. If it doesn’t irritate your dog and the problem isn’t getting worse you can just leave it. But if I were you I would go see the VET… just in case.

As for the leash walking I know there are several books on that topics. I suggest you go to http://www.amazon.com and search for either “dog training” or “dog leash training”. They also have training DVD’s that you can watch on exactly that topic.
