No Such Thing as a VIP Pet Insurance

Just the other day I was contacted by a gentleman asking me about the “VIP pet insurance” program that he had been recommended. He had found this site because of the article I wrote a little over a year ago titled VIP Pet Insurance – Superior Insurance. In the article I talk about the fact that we as pet owners always want what is best for our pets and that it for most people include getting a pet insurance package that will cover the expenses for treatments no matter what might happen to your loved ones.

Pet Insurance Coverage

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a pet insurance that will cover everything and even if there were you would most likely find that it would be so expensive that you wouldn’t want it anyway as you would be far better off just putting the money aside every month instead. What we must understand is that running an insurance company selling insurances (pet insurance or any other kind of insurance) is a business model where the company will have you pay for the service they provide by taking on smaller or larger parts of the risk of future expenses on pet health care and treatment.

Insurance Companies Profits On Pet Owners

Since this is a business like any other they are in the game to make a profit. Enough to satisfy their shareholders but no more than what will have their customers want to pay the price. If prices are too high then there will be no customers and thereby no profit. It’s actually quite simple really! But as we (as pet owners) are the customers paying the price for the insurance we would naturally want as much coverage for as little money as possible. I think it is human nature :)

I guess I wandered a little bit off there so let’s get back to the topic about VIP insurance for pets. Whenever someone refers to or searches for VIP pet insurance I think what they are actually searching for is what is often known as premium pet insurance packages. A premium insurance is often the top product being offered by the insurance company and will include anything that the company feels they will be willing to take on the risk for. You will naturally have to pay a higher premium because you are transferring more of your potential risk to them but for many pet owners the exchange for less risk for more money might be a good deal.

Pet surgery is not getting any cheaper and every since cats and dogs started getting fatter and lazier they have developed more of the human lifestyle diseases like cancer, abnormal blood pressure and all the other symptoms that we’re constantly reading about in the newspapers. Paying for a bypass operation or a new kidney for you dog is pretty expensive and if you can have the pet insurance company pay for all or most of the procedure the monthly payment of “VIP pet insurance” or “Premium packages” might be very well spent.

If you are considering these premium packages then try to search for “premium+pet insurance” in Google and see what comes up. I must warn you though as you’ll probably find that they are pretty expensive and since the insurance companies are running a business you can be sure that they will (on average) have their customers pay more in fees than they are going to pay out for treatment and pet medicine. You might be the lucky one that will get more than you pay fore but you could also end up being the one that pays for another pet owner’s pet’s treatment.
