Free Answers to Pet Health Questions

When you are a pet owner you will naturally want to do the best you possibly can to keep your pet safe, healthy and vital. You will however always run into things, situations or circumstances where you don’t know what to do or where you have several options and don’t know what will be the best solution for you and your pet.

Pet Health

Especially when you need answers to your pet health questions it is important that you get the best possible advice so that your pet will stay healthy or will recover as quickly as possible if it is already ill or injured. The question remains however: Where do you find highly qualified answers to your questions about pet health?

Well there are actually several different options available to you but each of them has their own advantages as well as disadvantages. Read on to discover both parts so you will be better prepared to make the right decision for your pet.

Image Pet Health QuestionsAsk Your Pet’s VET
Now this might seem like an obvious solution but when you are in a situation where your pet becomes ill and there are any other health related issues do your freak out or do you keep your head cool? Asking your pet’s VET has both advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages:
The greatest advantage is that the VET has already examined your pet and already know much about it. Often you’ll get the best answer here because the VET has all the recorded history of past illnesses, x-rays and blood sample results.

Disadvantages:
Unfortunately, getting your VET to answer pet health questions will often be priced per the half or whole hour meaning that you will have to pay to get the answers you are looking for. I most cases you are willing to do that but you might find yourself in a situation where that can be difficult.

Find Online Help

Because of the internet and the billions of webpages that are freely available, you will probably be able to find the answers you are looking for online. Especially if you know how to search and where to look.

 Advantages:
One of the primary advantages about finding answers to pet health questions is that you will not only get the answers for free but you will also get several answers to the same question and with a little work on your part you might even be able to find the same answer as your VET would have given you. Difference is that here you’ll save money (but ad some work on your part).

Disadvantages:
Because every single person with an Internet connection can go online and publish whatever rubbish they want to you will need to be careful not to take answers from a stranger as the only truth there is. You might end up hurting your pet instead of making things better. That is why using the Internet might save you money but you will need to compensate with spending time to do your homework.

Ask Other People with Pets
Now last, but not least you will always be able to find other people that have the same pet as you that have experienced what your pet is experiencing. Especially local pet clubs or online pet forums are great sources of information and help, but as with the online help you can be absolutely sure that the answer you get is a qualified one.

So there you have it. Three options for finding answers to your pet health questions.

my mutt dog is about 1 year old, he is consistanly has fur ball throat and always breaths like he is out of breath. Always gaging and trying to vomit. Why. Also around his penis the tip area and hair look damp and green in color. What is is and what can I do. the vet put him on a pink antibiotic but the green can back. I am more concerned about his gaging and hacking ALL THE TIME Please help.

  • My 7 month old chihuahua mix has a spot on her head where shes losing her hair, she does’nt scratch it, it does’nt itch her, it looks dry, can you help me diagnose the problem? Will I have to take her to a vet? Also one more question, she wont walk on a leash she gets irraticle when I put one on her, so unfortunately I cant walk her. Is there anything I can do to leash train her?
    Thank you

  • Mikael

@ Jon, I’m sorry for the late reply but I suggest that you go visit your VET once more. If he has already diagnosed the problem it is better for him to proceed the treatment. I do however think you will benefit from explaining the gaging and hacking issue with your VET. If it is something that happens all the time it shouldn’t be a problem showing it to the VET.

@ Theresa, as for the loss of hair you will have two options. If it doesn’t irritate your dog and the problem isn’t getting worse you can just leave it. But if I were you I would go see the VET… just in case.

As for the leash walking I know there are several books on that topics. I suggest you go to http://www.amazon.com and search for either “dog training” or “dog leash training”. They also have training DVD’s that you can watch on exactly that topic.

  • my one year ol kitty has blood in his bowel this is the 2nd time the changes at home are a new kitten recently and his co owner canme to see him this week for the first time in 7 months. they are very close to one another. he still plays and runs

    i have a 20 week puppy
he has a dog house i drilled a hole in it and put alight bulb in there to keep him warmer and he wont go in it now .. the first 15 minutes he just barked at it help please

  • Mikael

Hi Ronnie, an welcome to the site.

There can be several reasons for him not wanting to go in. If it is too hot that might be the reason and you can try to change it to a lessor watt bulb.

Or maybe it is because it is now too bright. A dog house is like a cave where a dog can feel safe. Illuminating a cave makes it seem a little less “unsafe” so that might be another reason.

The easy solution will be to just remove the light bulb if that means he’ll use the dog house again.

could you tell me how much would it be to get my dog ears pinned and how hard it would be on him since he is 3 yrs old

  • Mikael

    @Daniel,

Welcome to the site. Prices can vary a great deal so it will be better for you if you go ask your local VET or someone you know that has the same breed that has had its ears pinned recently.

  • My Shiloh Shepherds have been sneezing constantly since yesterday. My male was at a dog show yesterday and I was wondering if he caught something from one of the dogs over at the show. Thank you!

I have a 8 month old cat that has been vaccinated, and was perfectily healthy till monday. She had really bad diarreah then nothing but mucus has come out since. It is clear/ whitish and the vet said he had never seen anything like it in over 40 years. He perscibed antibiotics and something else. This will be the second time i have not been able to get a diagnosis for my cat. I have spent over 400$ just to hear experts say “I dont know” and it is really upsetting. please help, does this sound familiar??

I had a minature chihuahua, I bought he died when he was only about 3 1/2 months old. I took him to the vet several times because of him being such a small breed dog. They gave him shots and wormed but for the 2 1/2 months I owned him he put some blood through his bowels but the vet checked him and said he would be fine they couldn’t find anything. The day he passed away he vomitted a couple of times and suddenly got down stiff and just couldn’t walk his breathing sounded really funny also like it was difficult for him to breathe. He ate very well and drank well the whole day right up untill he died. Do you have any ideals on what could have been wrong with him??

I have a 5 month dog, (half choc lab, half golden retriever). Wednesday, she was fine, happy and hopping around (normal). I woke up thursday, and noticed a puddle of vomit on the floor. I tried to take her outside so many times, but she would not go outside until late evening. After taking her outside, she had a large loose bowel movement. I also tried to to feed her and give her water, but she just water intermittently throughout the day. My oldest had said that the dog might have gotten ahold of some edible playdough (peanut butter mix). Do you think that might have caused her to be sick?
