Cat Health Problems Symptoms

A concerned cat lover should be aware of the common occurring cat health problems symptoms in order to administer a timely cure. If delayed, some cat diseases and illnesses could turn out to be fatal. However, a veterinarian can easily treat most of their illnesses.

If there is a hereditary disease in your cat’s family, then you should be particularly cautious of your cat. If your cat has been exposed to another feline with a severe illness, watch your cat for a few days; if she exhibits unusual symptoms take her to the vet immediately.

Recently, cat health problems have been on the rise. Cats used to live much longer than they do now. Of late, many cats have died at a young age. Vets attribute this issue to the low quality cat food available in the market. Artificial nutrients and poisonous preservatives are added to cat food, which makes cats sick and unhealthy.

Some Common Health Problems in a Cat

Cat Health Problems SymptomsThere are several health problems, but the most common ones are cat hairballs, feline leukemia, and the presence of fleas, worms, kidney diseases, liver problems, conjunctivitis, dental issues, ear mites, urinary infections, feline stress, feline pancreatitis, Feline infectious peritonitis and Lyme disease.

Loss of appetite and weight loss are common symptoms of most of these illnesses. Apart from that, cats will be weak, look depressed, have fever, feel lethargic and start vomiting. To point out and treat the exact nature of disease, you have to take your cat to the vet.

Looking after a sick cat is not easy, as they cannot tell you what they are going through.

Diabetes in Cats

Just like humans, cats can get diabetes. The symptoms are pretty much like human symptoms. Cats with diabetes suffer from persistent thirst, frequent urination, an inconsistent appetite and limp and weak hind legs.

They may also look fragile and lethargic and have acetone-like breath. Recognize these symptoms in your cat before they take a serious course. If left untreated, your cat could suffer severe weight loss, depression, neurological complications and finally coma leading to death. Your vet will put your cat on medication supplemented by a cautious diet.

Replace all your cat’s protein and fat with a low carbohydrate high-fiber diet. Most cats are believed to have type 2 diabetes.

To prevent your cat from getting sick due to an unhealthy artificial diet, you could start giving him home cooked food and natural meat. If you have no choice but to give her canned food, then read the ingredients on the tin before giving it to her.

The canned food that you buy should not have any traces of chemicals, fillers and dyes. Tap water is not fit for your cat to drink. With today’s high rate of pollution and added chemicals, it is advisable that you give your cat filtered water.

This could prolong your cat’s life. If your cat does not look healthy, you can boost her energy by giving her cat specific vitamin supplements and nutrients. Cats are born lazy, so make sure that your cat gets a lot of exercise. Apart from that, she needs a lot of attention and love. Give her plenty of that and she will live longer.
