Not too long ago I wrote an article about Banfield Pet Insurance and I did get some really great response on that article. But one of the recent comments made me want to write this article about Banfield Pet Hospital.

In the previous article I stated that people searching for pet insurance in regards to the Banfield hospital wouldn’t be able to find what they were looking for as Banfield does not offer any insurance for pet. What they do offer is what they call a Wellness Plan that will assist you in keeping your pet as healthy and as vital as you possibly can.
I can’t imagine any serious and loving pet owner that would want to keep their pet healthy and vital but yet we can open a newspaper or the TV without reading or seeing about obese animals, animals with cancer illnesses and other lifestyle issues. So obviously there are some people that don’t know (or don’t care) about something like the Wellness plan.
Pet Hospital Treatment
Now the purpose of a pet hospital is to treat pets and that is what Banfield is. So it is actually kind of interesting that a company that gets paid to treat animals will illnesses want pet owners to keep their pet from needing a hospital. I like that ethical approach and I even find it fair that they can then make their money from selling wellness plans instead.
But when would you then need Banfield the Pet Hospital is your pet is never sick? Well that is where real pet insurance and treatment comes in. Because even though a pet might not get sick that often it can still get hit by a car, get bitten by other animals, step on glass or experience all kinds of other accidents.
That is where you pay the pet hospital to treat your pet and that is where a pet insurance might come in handy. So be sure to separate Banfield as a pet hospital from a pet insurance company because even though you might need both at the same time it‘ll be two different companies.

If a pet is brought into Banfield through their Wellness Program, has a dental scaling, shots, ear cleaning, etc and goes home SICK, isn’t Banfield responsible should Banfield pay for the additional services? The pet was not sick, other then an eye infection when brought in, now is deaf, lethargic, won’t eat or drink at all ???????????????????
