No matter what pet hospital you choose to take your pet, there will always be some complaints about that hospital floating around. These may even be some complaints of your own. Whether you have heard negative comments from a friend or read them on a website, not every experience is going to be ideal, but it is important to be informed of these complaints when choosing a pet hospital. For those considering visiting Banfield Pet Hospital, in Minnesota, they should be made aware of the Banfield Pet Hospital complaints from the owners of prior patients and how they relate to pet insurance.
What Are Some Popular Banfield Pet Hospital Complaints Related to Pet Insurance?
There are many common complaints from clients of the Banfield Pet Hospital including over charging, completely unauthorized charging, and substandard health care. These are some very hefty allegations and unfortunately, these complaints are shared by many, many people over many years. Pet Insurance companies will help to cover the costs of an injury or illness that your pet sustains while in the care of Banfield Pet Hospital, but the hospital itself has refused any monetary assistance to clients who have had their pet injured because of the substandard health care they provided.
What Do These Complaints Mean For My Pet Insurance And Me?
Most pet owners want the absolute highest standard of health care for their pet. There are many complaints of negligence, mistakes, and otherwise unacceptable health care practices that routinely take place in Banfield Pet Hospital. If a severe medical error is made that causes your pet damage, pet insurance will not cover the entire cost of care. Therefore, if while at Banfield Pet Hospital, your pet was greatly harmed and the resulting health care is expensive, some of those costs will have to be paid directly by the pet owner. Banfield Pet Hospital is a hospital that pet owners should be very wary of, even if they have pet insurance to help cover the costs of health care.

The experience my wife and I have had with Banfield is apparently very different. We have worked with two different Banfields in two states for eight years (and prior to them several other vets) and we can say unreservedly that Banfield has been great for our cats. We are both biologists with a healthy medical background, so we have a pretty good clue what’s going on. We have always been impressed with the care Banfield provides and their manner with animals (even if some employees could use a little work on their manner with people).
We have Banfield wellness plans for our cats, and they have been very helpful at covering the costs of visits, prescriptions, etc. We have an elderly cat with joint and kidney issues and the care she has received has been great, and her wellness plan has reduced our out-of-pocket expenses.
I realize that a nationwide chain like Banfield is going to have issues and not everyone’s experience is going to be like ours. However, given the significant anti-Banfield sentiment expressed in this posting, I wanted to make sure readers are aware that some people have had very good experiences with Banfield.
I believe you should always “test out” any veterinarian that you plan to take your pet. Banfield is no different. There are some banfields out there with uneducated associates, however there are also many with a great staff, great doctors and honest prices for treatment. I encourage anyone to go to banfield and get a basic examination. Meet the staff. Heck, even see the clinic(you are allowed to ask to see the clinic per Banfield policy). If it is gross and you don’t like the staff. Go somewhere else. If the clinic is clean and organized, that is a clue that they care about their hospital.
